NEED TO KNOW!
Criteria for participating as a volunteer for the
Maui Film Festival at Wailea
DATES OF FESTIVAL: Wednesday, June 11th - Sunday, June 15th.
OFFICIAL PRE-FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER MEETINGS
Wednesday, May 28th, 6:15pm - 7:15pm
Wednesday, June 4th, 6:15pm - 7:15pm
To all Volunteer Candidates! Please attend a 1 hour orientation in the Alexa Higashi Room at the MACC (to right of Shaefer Intl. Gallery) on either of the two dates listed above. As consideration for attending, you will be offered a discounted ticket to that evenings 7:30pm screening.
With the new registration and scheduling system, you will be able to create and manage your own schedule. As last year's assignments went particularly well, I'm encouraging volunteers to repeat this year as possible.
DRESS CODE : As "Ambassadors of Aloha" we ask that you present yourself in the same professional manner you would any employer; clean clothes, attention to hygeine, and good walking shoes. Many jobs require being on your feet, walking up and down a fairly steep ramp and walking on grass. Please refrain from wearing slippers ("sandals" for you mainlanders) as they can severely limit your mobility and safety. The official uniform of the MFF@Wailea Volunteer is khaki (tan) or black shorts, pants or skirt and the official MFF T-Shirt you will receive when you check in for your first shift, in the size and gender you indicate when you register .
COMMITMENT: If you commit to a shift and accept tickets for events that occur before your shift, and then don't show up, you will be invoiced the cost of the tickets and inconvenience the other volunteers, because they'll have to make up for you. If you make a commitment, please honor it.
CONSIDERATION: Each 4 hour volunteer shift entitles you to two $10 movie tickets good at the festival, plus, one $10 Wednesday night movie ticket. You will notice an increase in the "day of" rates for single films ($12) and for the Celestial Cinema double feature ($24). That does not effect volunteer perks (just makes them more valuable ;-).
VOLUNTEER PARKING: Parking for volunteers is at the Blue Course at the Wailea Golf Course. Head south past the resorts of Wailea. Turn left at the intersection immediately after you pass the Kea Lani - pull into first drive on right and right again into the parking lot. Arrive 10-15 minutes before you are scheduled to check in at the Volunteer desk at the Seawatch (see map for volunteer office directions) so that you know where to go when you are shuttled over.
